  • KIDSFEST – Cancelled due to Covid-19 concerns

    May 30 10am – 3pm | Wetmore Park, Sun Prairie

Update – Unfortunately ECM has cancelled the 2020 KidsFest event due to Covid-19 concerns. Our team is truly saddened to miss this opportunity to connect with our community, but we look forward to planning a stellar KidsFest event for the spring of 2021. In light of these changes ECM is planning alternate events and opportunities to engage families during the remainder of 2020. Stay tuned!

A day of family fun featuring musical performances by children’s artists, face painting, bubbles and food! Come have full with the whole family while supporting the Explore Children’s Museum. Admission and fees to be determined. All proceeds support the Explore Children’s Museum.

  • SUMMER

  • COLOR SPLASH PARTY!

June 12, 2020 | City of Sun Prairie

Celebrate the beginning of summer with ECM’s Color Splash Party! On June 12 between 11am-1pm, the team at Explore Children’s Museum will be visiting Sun Prairie neighborhoods to kick off summer with a splash (of color!).

Before party day families must purchase “color rockets”, or small bags of washable color powder, that will be delivered to your doorstep. Head to Explore’s website and click on the “Donate” page to find color rocket purchase information.

By June 11 participants will receive the outdoor location and time of their Color Splash Party (the fun part where we get to douse one another in colored powder!). The team at Explore will attend each Color Splash Party location with bubbles and music to add to the fun. Each Color Splash Party will last approximately 15 minutes.

When you purchase a Color Splash Party package you are entered to win 1 of 3 gift baskets stuffed with swag from local Sun Prairie businesses, such as Cassoulet, Haumea, Running Diva Mom, Mary Kay, Pampered Chef and The Rooted Family! Soooo many fabulous goodies!

ART IN THE CITY BENCH CAMPAIGN

    Learn More

Summer 2020 | City of Sun Prairie

Explore Children’s Museum has teamed up with an amazing array of local artists to create works of art to brighten our community!

Chase Lumber of Sun Prairie generously donated lumber and the Sun Prairie High School Tech. Ed. students, under the supervision of teacher Justin Zander, built 20 Aldo Leopold style benches. The ECM team enlisted the talents of local artists with their own distinct styles to paint the benches in their own unique way.

The benches will be featured throughout the city of Sun Prairie during the summer of 2020 for our community to enjoy. A map of the bench locations will soon be available. Beginning in July the benches will be auctioned via the ECM website to raise money for Explore Children’s Museum of Sun Prairie.

    COMMUNITY MURAL: SHINE ON

Let’s join together to create a mural that will be permanently displayed in the museum!

Our world is weathering a tumultuous time. But we will persevere and we will emerge from this time with new perspectives. The sun will rise upon a new opportunity for our world, our country and our community. A sun is a symbol for our community, and it is also a symbol of hope and new beginnings.

The team at Explore Children’s Museum is creating a mural of a sun using thousands of small works of art we are calling “pixels”. Each small pixel will be created by a community member and affixed together to create a large mural in the museum building. The mural will be a symbol of hope, new beginnings and community connectedness.

To bring this mural to life ECM needs you! Please head to the “Donate” tab and click on the “Community Mural: Shine On” button. There you can purchase pixel kits that ECM will mail to your home. Using the kit you, and other members of your household, can create your individual pixels to be included in the community mural.

  • FALL

  • BADGER TAILGATE

November 14 | Angell Park Pavilion

Update – The team at Explore Children’s Museum is keeping a close eye on social gathering and sport event guidelines for 2020. If we are unable to host this event as planned we will work to provide an alternative. The Badger Tailgate event will be an annual event, and our team is already looking forward to tailgating together in the fall of 2021.

Join us for a Badger tailgate during the November 14th away game against Purdue.  Cheer for the Badgers with the ECM Board of Directors and former Badger football players! The game will be playing while we enjoy some delicious tailgate food. There will be a silent auction happening throughout the event and the bench campaign benches will be included in the silent auction. Admission fee TBD. All proceeds support the Explore Children’s Museum.
